Understanding the biology behind HLA-B27 to better diagnose and treat spondyloarthritis and uveitis.

The Paley Lab is interested in how autoimmune disease develops with a particular focus on the CD8 T cells that change from fighting off viruses and bacteria to attacking one’s own body. This applies to multiple autoimmune diseases with Ankylosing Spondylitis being a prime example. We are currently studying  the CD8 T cells that cause Ankylosing Spondylitis (as well as Acute Anterior Uveitis) to develop new and better tools to help diagnose and treat patients with more precise therapies.
